The latest Rasmussen Poll shows clearly that the White House is losing the public relations war over health care reform: Public support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low as just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan. That’s down five points from two weeks ago and down eight points from six weeks ago . A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that opposition to the plan has increased to 53%, up nine points since late June.

Market Update for 8/10/09 The release of better than expected jobs data on Friday pushed the US stock market to its highest levels of 2009 as investors remained optimistic rather than dwelling on the economic difficulties of the past year. In spite of news from a government report that 247,000 employees lost jobs nationwide in July, the overall number of unemployed Americans fell to 14.5 million. The country’s current unemployment rate of 9.4% (down 0.1% from a month earlier) was also welcomed news, its first month-over-month drop since April 2008 (source: Department of Labor).

At this point it is possible that the current health care reform legislation might pass or be defeated. There are a number of articles around, both from opponents of reform and some pessimistic supporters, already writing reasons as to why Obama was unsuccessful. The coverage of Obama’s strategy will change dramatically should he be successful in passing health care reform when so many before him have failed.

Got that? If you don’t support Obama, you must be a frustrated, confused halfwit who doesn’t quite understand why the government would give Americans $4500 for a 2004 Dodge Dakota. As an amateur scholar of Marxism who has a pretty clear understanding of “what’s going on,” Fairey is doubtless referencing Engels’ idea of “false consciousness,” but presumes us Obama skeptics are too thick for such profundities. John Bolton puts the case that Obama should not be bestowing the Medal of Freedom on Mary Robinson. But Bolton underplays it, I think. It reminds me of the double-standard used in Europe. While the Nazi-apologist British historian David Irving was being throw in jail by the Austrians for denying the Holocaust, then British PM Tony Blair was awarding the unrepentant Stalinist historian Eric Hobsbawm some sort of medal. Both Irving and Hobsbawm, two sides of the exact same collectivist nightmare coin, deserved opprobrium, not jail or a medal.

Good for Mike Sola. The person making the threat is a yellow belly coward. The true un-Americans are the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Breitbart-Father of Handicapped Son Received Threats After Confrontation With Rep. Dingell
