Good question. If you accepted the formulation made by Kathleen Parker, stalwart and standard-bearing conservative, you’d think he was a “pragmatist” in “socialist times” — a smooth operator beholden to none, acting decisively and in accordance with what the “times” demand. Namely, socialism. How’s that pragmatic socialist thing working out for the Left?Well, let’s just say that being mentioned in the same breath as Dick Cheney isn’t quite the change BO would be looking for.

My husband has been working since he was 16 and was unable to get health insurance until he was in his 40s when I added him to my plan. My mother has been working for 50 years. She wants to retire and work part-time, but she can’t because she would lose her health insurance. As a cancer survivor, she would be unable to obtain private insurance, so she must continue to work until she is eligible for Medicare. The best health care that I have ever received was when I was an exchange student in Northern Ireland.

…community organizer I’ve ever seen. Ok, get the booing out of your system. I know what you’re thinking. Obama is miserable. Obama screws up everything he touches. What the heck were you thinking when you published this? Were you thinking at all? Did you sell out? Nope, I’m giving genuine kudos to a man for a real [...]

Hello and salutatious welcomings to you all… Life is all a little bit too serious these days. It’s like someone has removed the funny bone from our society and replaced it with a jelly-like substance that smells of fear and stress. The fearstress jelly seems to run western life with the ruthless efficiency made famous by many a leiderhosen wearing Bavarian factory owner. Starting off with a slight tickle of racism certainly wasn’t my intention.

It’s funny in its own vicious, twisted, psychotic little way. Nancy Pelosi calls American citizens “un-American” and compares them to swastika-toting Nazis as she charges them with being “Astroturf.” And Harry Reid officially added the word “evil mongers” to the English language to describe opponents of the Democrats’ health care agenda. Meanwhile : Who are the real thugs? Democrats attack congressional town hall protesters as “Brown Shirts” — likening taxpayer activists across the country to Hitler’s storm troopers.

We seem to be living in crazy times. A substantial number of conservatives have a number of delusions , including that that Barack Obama is a Muslim and not a natural born American citizen, believe in creationism, still think there was WMD in Iraq at the onset of the war, and think that the scientific consensus on climate change is part of a conspiracy to destroy industrialized society. The health care debate has added a number of new delusions as conservatives listen to the wild claims of “ death panels ” from a crazy lady in Alaska posting on Facebook.

Germany is a lot smaller than the U.S., but it has a lot more health insurers to choose from, and cheaper health-care costs. One reason might be more competition: in the U.S., you can’t buy individual health insurance from an out-of-state insurer, since an obsolete federal law lets states block purchases across state lines, taking away interstate-shopping rights that citizens would otherwise enjoy under the the Constitution’s Interstate Commerce Clause.

The latest poll suggests that Americans prefer NO health care reform rather than the health care reform currently being offered : Thirty-five percent (35%) of American voters say passage of the bill currently working its way through Congress would be better than not passing any health care reform legislation this year. However, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that most voters (54%) say no health care reform passed by Congress this year would be the better option.
