The economy, GM, Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran; if the flurry of problems Barack Obama has to deal with wasn’t bad enough, today the teleprompter broke. According to ABC News’ Jake Tapper “midway through his speech on urban and metropolitan policy in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building this afternoon, one of his two small glass prompters came crashing down, hitting the wood floor and crashing in many pieces. It made quite a ruckus.” But not to worry. According to TOTUS, he is okay.

A new White House economic advisors report looks at employment through 2016 and finds that the health and green job sectors are growing.Ascociated Press reports: “President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers said jobs ranging from technical record keeping to nursing and physical therapy will grow in the health fields and that greater spending on renewable energy and on a more efficient electrical power grid will spike employment in those sectors as well.

Combining its century-old mission of fighting for equality with the instantaneous reach of modern-day technology, the NAACP has launched a program that lets people use their cell phones to report incidents of police misconduct. The “rapid response system” was officially launched Monday as part of the annual convention for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. This year, the organization is marking the centennial of its founding in New York City in 1909.

Utah Republican leaders stand strongly behind traditional marriage but say it is too early to decide whether the state should jump into federal court opposing a lawsuit seeking to overturn the national Defense of Marriage Act. Meanwhile, a state Senate Democrat says he sees no reason for Utah to get involved — except for political reasons. Last week, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley filed a lawsuit against the federal law.

Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic Supreme Court nominee in history, vowed loyalty to “the impartiality of our justice system” Monday, confronting Republican skeptics at Senate hearings suffused with racial politics but all but certain to lead to her confirmation. “My personal and professional experiences help me to listen and understand, with the law always commanding the result in every case,” the 55-year old Sotomayor said in her first substantive remarks in public since President Barack Obama nominated her seven weeks ago.
