Silly Liberals… Federal deficit hits all-time high $1.42 trillion WASHINGTON – The federal budget deficit has surged to an all-time high of $1.42 trillion as the recession caused tax revenues to plunge while the government was spending massive amounts to stabilize the financial system and jump-start the economy. The imbalance for the budget year ended Sept. 30, more than tripled last year’s record. The Obama administration projects deficits will total $9.1 trillion over the next decade unless corrective action is taken.

The birthers are chasing another red herring in the shape of a June 2004 article from a newspaper in Kenya that referred then Illinois State Senator as “Kenyan born:” Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations. The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative.

U.S. National News The White House has issued a statement of President Barack Obama’s position on marriage equality referenda in Maine and Washington. The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act , which would extend benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees, flew through its Senate hearing.The similar bill House bill has already passed out of committee. It is unclear if the full House will vote on it before the end of year.

One of America’s wealthiest men was among six hedge fund managers and corporate executives arrested Friday in a hedge fund insider trading case that prosecutors say generated more than $25 million in illegal profits and should be a wake-up call for Wall Street. Raj Rajaratnam, a partner in Galleon Management and a portfolio manager for Galleon Group, a hedge fund with up to $7 billion in assets under management, was accused of conspiring with others to trade based on insider information about several publicly traded companies, including Google Inc.

Congress has passed a bill that will make fuel-efficient three-wheeled vehicles eligible for federal funding and is headed to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature. The funding will be available to automakers and their suppliers. The bill, which will open Department of Energy funding to companies like Aptera Motors, was passed by the Senate yesterday as a part of the energy appropriations bill after being approved by the House, report Automotive News .
