The Olympic Committee kicked Chicago out during the first round of a bid for the 2016 Summer Games, a stunning defeat to Barack Obama, who personally invested personal time and energy into the bid. A CNN reporter also had a significant on-air breakdown when the news was broadcast live Friday afternoon:

Not too long ago, I got into a “discussion” with one of those selfish, talking-points addled members of the Lamest Generation. Being an idiot, he decided to try to shoot me down by pointing to the VA as some kind of a terrible red flag for Government-run healthcare.I replied, naturally, that the only VA healthcare that sucked happened to be those parts that Chimpy outsourced to his buddies at Halliburton (Walter Reed, anyone?) I kindly pointed out that he had actually made my point for me, and thanked him. But, still, the “VA BAD!!!” bugaboo is firmly entrenched as a Rushpubliscum talking point, so it is useful to know exactly how well, or how poorly, the VA perfoems in delivering healthcare.

So Daley Plaza cleared out fairly quickly after the first-round TKO of the Chicago 2016 bid — all that remained after a couple of hours were roadies, and a fountain filled with orange soda. And the people who left in a hush had a serious case of sad. They believed in the bid — truly and completely, and notwithstanding all of the inherent problems of handing off billions of dollars to the Daley machine, when such money can pay for other useful things. (On this score, the objections to the bid by Chicagocentric Stinquers were well-documented and, on the whole, well-founded.) But: Rush Limbaugh? Glenn Beck? Weekly Standard hacks?

“ AP – Eight months in office, Barack Obama has now pushed closer than any other president in generations to creating a basic health care safety net for working Americans. Yet the fate of legislation delivering on his goal is far from certain: Republicans are nearly unified in opposition, Democrats hardly united in support. “ Read the original source…

OCTOBER 3, 2009 Snowe Vote Looms in the Health Battle JANET ADAMY and GREG HITT WASHINGTON — The final hours of the Senate Finance Committee’s marathon health debate focused on making its bill affordable for the middle class. Now, the question is whether Democrats did enough to win over Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe, and whether they stayed within the budget limits set by President Barack Obama. The committee wrapped up its debate just after 2 a.m. EDT Friday. Its vote, set for next week, could be a milestone in Mr.

Courtesy of Death By 1,000 Paper Cuts. Visit to order the bumper sticker. It comes down to respect.President Obama showed none. And in the end, the Olympics committee returned the favor by humiliating the president of the United States, according to stories in the Berlingske Tidende newspaper in Copenhagen. The Google translations are a tad rough, but serviceable. The front page headline read: “Rio vandt — Obama tabte” or “Rio won — Obama lost.”That story began: “The world’s most powerful man traveled to Copenhagen to ensure the Olympics to Chicago in 2016.

Seems the Olympic Committee said “Fuck You” to Obama and Chicago. Can you imagine the outrage on Air Force One when Fuknut got the call he didn’t make them swoon and his pixie dust failed? I bet he was downright pissed, which means he probably crossed his legs and sighed, since the man is about as excitable was a fucking mushroom. Though the more I think of it, he was probably piping hot, this kind of thing is what he lives for, no? Maybe he just cannot manage anger for shit that actually matters like war, the economy, and the general state of the country. Asshat.

The Olympic Fiasco I think most Americans were rooting for Chicago. As I wrote on NRO’s corner, I know I was. But Rio had a really convincing hope and change/ multicultural/new guy on the block case. And consider: given the recent bad windy city publicity (You Tube beatings, state and city corruption, Blagoism, Daley ward mobsterism, rumors of pre-Olympic wheeling and dealing on land angles, administration Chicago hard-ball Rahm Emanuel/David Axelrod politics, etc.), Chicago, Illinois was seen abroad as less competitive, far less competitive, than the other cities.
