They must be hiding somewhere, the throngs of American conservatives who are cheering for Barack Obama now that the Dow Jones Industrial Average has broken above the 10,000 mark, far higher than the level of the Dow when Obama took office as the 44th President of the United States. I can’t see them, I don’t hear them, but I know they must be out there. I know this because just a few months ago, American conservatives were out there in droves telling the nation how responsible Barack Obama is for the performance of the stock market: Neal Boortz : So now the Dow has dropped below 8000.

I know that not all homeschoolers are “pro-life” (i.e., anti-abortion) but many of us are, so this item reported by Charlie Butts of OneNewsNow on 9/26/2009 should be interesting. Is a double standard being applied to those in the public debate on abortion? In the aftermath of the shooting death of pro-life demonstrator Jim Pouillon in Michigan, some members of the movement are hesitant to picket.

If there was ever a time that a three-way call between Barack Obama, Don King and LeBron James needed to happen, it’s now to set up a LeBron James dunking on George W. Bush pay-per-view event. The public demands it! Maxim magazine recently asked James, “If there was one guy on the planet you could dunk on, who would it be?” His response might produce as much reaction on Capitol Hill as on the basketball court. ”If it doesn’t have to be a basketball player, George W. Bush,” James said.

REM call for Guantanamo closure Rock bands including Pearl Jam and REM have joined a coalition of musicians to support the US president’s efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison. The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo, which also includes former military officers, launched on Tuesday. Many of the artists who have signed up are angry that their music was used as an interrogation tool in the jail. But CIA spokesman George Little said music was used only for security, rather than “punitive purposes”.

And so it begins: WASHINGTON — Responding to the furor over executive pay at companies bailed out with taxpayer money, the Obama administration will order the firms that received the most aid to slash compensation to their highest-paid employees, an official involved in the decision said on Wednesday. The plan, for the 25 top earners at seven companies that received exceptional help, will on average cut total compensation this year by about 50 percent.

Sullivan posted this a few days back, in response to a really stark, racially-charged column by Pat Buchanan basically asserting that white people feel like they’ve had their country ripped away from them: Notice that for Buchanan in this column , it is axiomatic that America was once defined by its whiteness. This is what he means by “tradition.” America – once uniformly white – is now, for him and those he speaks for, bewilderingly multicultural and multi-confessional. Hence the anxiety.

AP – A coalition of mega-bands and singers outraged that music — including theirs — was cranked up to help break uncooperative detainees at Guantanamo Bay is joining retired military officers and liberal activists to rally support for President Barack Obama’s push to shutter the Navy-run prison for terrorist suspects in Cuba. Romer: Impact of stimulus will level off WASHINGTON ? A top White House economist says spending from the $787 billion economic stimulus has already had its biggest impact on economic growth and will likely not contribute to significant expansion next year. Christina Romer, the chair of President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, said Thursday that the [...]

Ilargi: In the past few days, I’ve come across a few headlines like these: Where The Hell Is The Outrage? (Mike Shedlock) and Where’s the Anger, America? At first, they made me wonder why anyone would want to ask themselves these questions today. I’ve asked myself and my readers the same questions many times, but I stopped doing so long ago. Then something occurred to me. I do know at least part of the answer to those questions, and it’s something I didn’t realize -or put into so many words- before.

Let me start by stressing that the lack of integrity I’m pointing out here does not apply solely to President Obama. I find very few politicians in Washington today who won’t say whatever they feel is necessary to garner favor from any particular audience. In other words, this is a statement about all politicians who are casual and self-serving with their words. I also want to point out that I am politically unaffiliated, so I’m not speaking as a Republican, nor am I defending any party here.
