Choike – Brave new world emerges from IMF and World Bank Istanbul meetings “The IMF /World Bank 2009 Annual meetings were, as every three years, held outside of Washington, this time in the city of Istanbul. The meetings came on the heels of the recent summit of the Group of 20 in Pittsburgh, giving follow up to several of its decisions. Some of the outcomes were perplexing. Around this same time last year, the world was grappling with the potentially catastrophic consequences of a crisis in which developing countries had no responsibility but that would significantly set back their progress towards the MDGs.

BAGHDAD – Iraqi officials say the toll from Sunday’s two powerful car bombs in central Baghdad has risen to 155 killed and more than 500 others wounded. The near-simultaneous attacks hit near the heavily-guarded Green zone and appeared to target a provincial government building and the Ministry of Justice. The blasts caused heavy damage to the government buildings, demolished nearby cars and scattered body part across the streets.

They are, in a sense, what we supporters of Israel have been seeking: a group of Arabs and Arab-Americans who are working for the creation of a Palestinian state but not for the destruction of Israel.

Citing a senior administration official, the newspaper said the measure would be proposed this week by Representative Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, after extensive consultations with Treasury Department officials.

This time round we tackle blogs and how they are used as political tools. It has been widelyreported about how web2.0 and the blogosphere contributed towards Barack Obama’s success and popularity. A large demographic of modern internet users currently use blogs as their primary source of news, as such a campaign needs to be fought online in order to reach these users. Blogging has become a political tool that cannot be controlled or manipulated by institutions, there are aspects to blogging that means that information gleaned from blogs should be taken with a pinch of salt:For the most part, they are anonymous.
