When Obama needs a last-minute miracle to help him sell one of the most unpopular policies to grace American politics in a decade, what does he do? Well, he gets a bunch of doctors to come to the White House and play dress-up for a photo op : In a heavy-handed attempt at reviving support for health-care reform, the White House orchestrated a massive photo op to buttress its claim that front-line physicians support Obama.

Glenn Beck is back in the news again and this time it is the remarks of others that have put him there. James Carville has this to say about Beck.“Just out-and-out nuts. And I also think that he’s a blatant hypocrite,” Carville said. “Here’s somebody that sits on his show … weeping about how much he loves America and … and then he’s absolutely giddy when his country doesn’t get the Olympics. And this is — I’ll tell you another thing about Glenn Beck. He wouldn’t know the difference between a football, a bat and a hockey court.

From Associated Press The Dalai Lama received a human rights award and met with U.S. lawmakers Tuesday on a visit to Washington overshadowed by President Barack Obama’s decision to delay a meeting with the exiled Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader. The Dalai Lama and Obama will not meet until after Obama visits Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing in November. China reviles the Dalai Lama, and the Obama administration wants to establish friendly ties between Hu and Obama during next month’s visit.

R.J. Matson/Post-DispatchAmericans are being ill-served by the nature of the debate over President Barack Obama’s pending decision about the future of America’s efforts in Afghanistan. No matter what you may have heard on talk radio or cable news, or read on your favorite left-wing or right-wing blog, this is much more complicated than whether the United States sends more troops to Afghanistan or begins heading for the exit. This is not about abandoning the war on terrorism, as some on the right would have it, or getting involved in another Vietnam, as some critics on the left have charged.

by Andy Worthington Featured WriterDandelion Saladwww.andyworthington.co.uk 6 October 2009I like to believe that, despite studying Guantánamo for four years, I still have a sense of humor, but last Thursday I lost it, after 258 members of the House of Representatives (including 88 members of President Obama’s own party) voted for an idiotic, paranoid and unjust motion proposed by Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ken.), which was designed to “Prohibit the transfer of GITMO prisoners, period” (those were his exact words).

I still remember those pictures (probably forged) of Begum Nusrat Bhutto with President Ford and the pictures of late Benazir Bhutto during the vitriolic elections campaigns of the nineties. The mob who was responsbile for producing those pictures and other mud-slinging material over the Bhutto family, also included a very active role of Mr. Hussain Haqqani, who first remained in the shadows of General Ziaul Haq, who hanged Zardari’s father in law and then Haqqani remained an acolyte of Nawaz Sharif.

Even as the White House is attempting to silence military and political leaders for offering advice or criticism on the administration’s handling of Afghanistan, President Barack Obama refuses to show leadership on the issue. The man who promised to win the war continues to take his sweet time in deciding how to move forward, even after his top commanders have agreed on the best strategy. WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Tuesday ruled out shrinking the Afghanistan war to a counterterrorism campaign.

When I arrive at work, I usually read up on the news before I even hit the “work”, and today some news caught my eye that I figured I’d share with you. WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will focus “at the right time” on how to overturn the “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on gays serving openly in the military, his national security adviser said Sunday. “I don’t think it’s going to be – it’s not years, but I think it will be teed up appropriately,” James Jones said.
