In response to Rep. Joe Wilson ’s shout of “You Lie!” to President Barack Obama during his health care reform speech last night, right-wing Americans have come out of the woodwork to defend Wilson’s right to free speech: Pat : Actually, I applaud Joe! We still have FREE SPEECH in this country Say Anything : Now we can talk about free speech, and certainly its not good form to shout down your political opponents, but Obama was not shouted down.

It was the speech intended to save Barack Obama’s presidency. Not sure how that’s going to work out for him, but in related news my SUV is now just about full for the trip into DC Saturday morning. Gabriel Malor: Disgustingly partisan . Ed Morrissey: Ugly . John Hinderaker: Not directed at thinking people . Oh and for the record, the dipshit’s line about illegal immigrants not being covered under the Democrat plan was a lie (among many in his speech, as per usual).

Was it a town hall meeting or was it presidential address to a joint session of Congress? I thought it was the later, but Representative Joe Wilson, a Republican form South Carolina, shouted at the president from his fifth-row seat: “You lie!” So what did Rep. Wilson think President Obama was lying about? [...]

I love Ellen, but what an odd choice to replace Paula Abdul on American Idol. Unless of course, they are looking for some comic relief, or someone to have snarky comments to combat Simon’s cranky side.  I really would have loved for them to select someone who was young and hip. A fresh aspect to [...]

Is anybody here the least little bit surprised? It is pure Alinsky. It is pure Obama. Fox News: Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents.

During President Obama’s speech Wednesday night Republican House member Joe Wilson of South Carolina heckled the president shouting “You Lie!” during his health care speech to congress. Members of both parties condemned the heckling and Joe has now issued an apology. South Carolina rep, go figure. After the speech, South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson issued a statement apologizing for his outburst. “This evening, I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill,” the statement said.

President Barack Obama  let Senator Ted Kennedy speak from the grave on 9.09.09. This is the second time Kennedy spoke from the Grave.  First he spoke through a letter at a  Arlington grave side funeral service through a letter to the Pope. 2nd he spoke in a letter given to Obama after his death. Long Beach’s long streak as a manufacturer of highly-regarded aircraft may be getting yet another boost. As the Press-Telegram ’s Kristopher Hanson reports, the Senate Wednesday gave a thumbs-up to ordering 10 more C-17 cargo planes from The Boeing Company—a $2.5 billion value that if approved by President Barack Obama, would keep Long Beach in the airplane business at least through the spring of 2012.

Free speech is one thing. Defiant voices speaking truth to power should be welcome in a democracy. To be honest, I wish there had been Democrats in Congress courageous enough to confront George W. Bush with a yell or two during his time in office. However, there is an important distinction between free speech that makes sense and free speech that’s simply kooky. When Congressman Joe Wilson shouted at President Barack Obama last night, he wasn’t speaking out on a noble issue, or in the interest of truth.
