Via my co-blogger Brad at The Liberty Papers, we find what may qualify as the worst piece of economic forecasting in history: “It was the worst of times, and it was the worst of times.” I imagine that’s what Charles Dickens would conclude about the current condition of the U.S. economy, based on the relentless drumbeat of pessimism in the media and on the campaign trail.

I am astounded at the hypocrisy that politics ensues upon the general public when it comes to anyone/anything being called “socialism” or “socialistic”. by Bob Lehrman Dense yet lofty speech blends oratory and urgency in seeking to engage a disparate coalition Barack Obama is in love, but don’t worry. Unlike other politicians, his affairs won’t get him into trouble but out of it. He is, for example, in love with litany—that scheme of repetition, using the same words and structure [...]

Norman Borlaug, the scientist who saved a billion lives by fathering the Green Revolution , died Saturday at the age of 95. His work in developing new crops to feed the world’s hungry in places like India earned him a Nobel Peace Prize, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a Congressional Gold Medal, even though his work was seldom mentioned by the press. Ronald Bailey notes that Borlaug “ saved more human lives than any other ” person in history.

The other day when the controversy was swirling over the infamous “you lie” incident, I laughed in a post that for the first time – old diarrhea mouth, Barack Obama – was at a loss for words for once!As I reflected on the issue, it suddenly dawned on me that – just maybe – Barack Obama has actually established himself as the most-talky (wordiest) President to have ever been installed
