More than 13 years ago, the nation’s military leaders told civilian defense officials they wanted to limit spending on missile defenses and to emphasize the protection of forces deployed overseas over defense of the American homeland against a long-range missile threat.

WASHINGTON – Seven former CIA directors are asking President Barack Obama to quash Attorney General Eric Holder’s investigation into harsh CIA interrogations of terror suspects during the Bush administration . The request came in a letter Friday from CIA directors who served both Democratic and Republican presidents, including three who served former President George W. Bush.

President Obama and former president Bush. Look at what’s going on in good ole red Texas. A school district in North Texas is causing a bit of controversy. After refusing to air President Barack Obama ’s “stay in school” speech a couple of weeks ago, the district announced that is sending its students on buses to hear former president George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush at an event at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. The Arlington School District decided not to air Obama’s speech after it caused concern by many students’ parents.

  Another day, another congressional scandal: WASHINGTON — The House ethics panel said Thursday that it is investigating Rep. Maxine Waters, a California Democrat who came under scrutiny for allegedly helping a bank with which she had ties secure a meeting with Treasury Department officials about obtaining bailout funds. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Ms. Waters allegedly helped OneUnited Bank of Boston get a meeting with Treasury officials to negotiate a $12 million bailout.
