opposition as governance – ordinary-gentlemen.com 09/09/2009 “M y hunch is that the Times’ editors see Friedman aiming the gun at his foot, but watching a man stupid enough to actually pull the trigger is so fun they hate to intervene. That or they’re trying to explode the myth of American meritocracy.” ~ Will Wilkinson Perhaps Wilkinson is being too harsh. Lately, though, I tend to agree. Friedman is so certain that his vision is correct. His pining for autocracy over

President Barack Obama who has given 263 speeches in his first 231 days in office will address a joint session of Congress on health care. Another speech I’m sure will turn the health care debate around because we haven’t heard enough of him on this issue (tonight will be his 29th speech on health care). From Dana Bash CNN WASHINGTON (CNN) — A key Republican senator in health-care negotiations said Wednesday that President Barack Obama should drop his push for a government-run public insurance option. Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine said in an interview with CNN that deep divisions over a public option were holding back progress on crafting a bipartisan health-care bill. Republicans unanimously oppose a public option, describing it as step toward a government takeover of health care.

Witness this incoherent mess of reasoning from a guest on MSNBC: Nancy: Have you changed your mind since hearing the president today? Teabagger: No I haven’t. I thought the speech was OK, we never really had a problem with the content of the speech. It was always about the lesson plans. Nancy: And what’s the problem with the lesson plans, that the idea is to stay in school and do your work and not let adversity keep you down?
