Bill O’Reilly’s cowardly treatment of Orly Taitz and the American Public Part II Last Night on the O’Reilly factor on Fox, Bill O’Reilly and two fawning females belittled Dr. Orly Taitz and millions of Americans who support the US Constitution and want proof that Barack Obama is a natural born citizen. O’Reilly producer chases congressman who called Fox the ‘enemy of America’ On his show Wednesday night, he ran footage of an interview shot by a producer in the halls of Congress, where he caught Grayson coming out of his office. “I wanted to ask you what you meant when you called Linda Robinson a K Street whore,” Fox News’ Griff Jenkins queries. “You’re gonna have to make an appointment with our press secretary,” Grayson replies. “Will you now apologize to Vice President Cheney when blood drips from his teeth?” asks Jenkins.

Yesterday, Mediaite offered a sneak peek at Fox News’ Griff Jenkins ambushing controversial Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson ( D-Fl) outside his office. The first thing I thought when I saw this was that Grayson’s repeated demands that Jenkins make an appointment constituted some particularly weak sauce. On last night’s O’Reilly Factor , Bill O’Reilly and Jenkins called Grayson out for hiding behind his press flack, and I couldn’t agree more.

CIT snags $4.5B lifeline. A group of hedge funds including many of its bondholders offered to lend CIT Group ( CIT ) $4.5B to build creditor support for a controversial debt exchange, pitting them against activist investor Carl Icahn, who wants the swap voted down. The lifeline comes as CIT’s lenders must decide by midnight tonight whether to support its proposed debt exchange, a pre-packaged bankruptcy plan, or neither.

First up is Bill-O, who for some reason thinks that the 4ok troops requested will magically fix everything, just like it did in Vietnam.  And it is somewhat fascinating that Afghanistan will be Obama’s Waterloo, as if the previous administration did everything just fine in that country.  Though since it is now President Obama’s problem (along with all the rest), no matter what decision he makes, it will of course be the wrong decision to many Fox viewers.

News giant CNN is having some issues with competiting networks. In fact, they’re losing to them all in the ratings race, including their own sister network HLN. Execs can’t be too thrilled about this one. CNN, which invented the cable news network more than two decades ago, will hit a new competitive low with its prime-time programs in October, finishing fourth – and last – among the cable news networks with the audience that all the networks rely on for their advertising.

Millions of Americans get their news from the cable networks CNN, MSNBC or Fox News. Yet two of those – Fox News and MSNBC – have gained notoriety not for their news coverage but for their prime-time opinion programming featuring such voluble hosts as Bill O’Reilly and Keith Olbermann. Critics say these shows shed more heat than light, and contribute little to their viewers’ understanding of important issues. But opinion and controversy sells: Ratings for these opinionated shows have shot through the roof.

Last night, attorney Liz Wiehl appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s The Factor. The discussion was about attorney Orly Taitz’ $20,000 fine for a frivolous lawsuit seeking to have Barack Obama’s long-form birth certificate released. I was shocked to hear Wiehl say that Congress has “investigated” Barack Obama’s natural born status. I’m asking when, and who, investigated, where is the report, and how does Wiehl know this? Actually, I’ve enjoyed the times O’Reilly has had me on his show. He’s also a Mets fan, which counts for something with me.But, please.

A little ray of hope out of the cesspool known as the House of Representatives. An internal democrat whip count shows they don’t have the votes to pass a “robust public option.” Suppose we were to overlook the recent cooling trend, drink the global warming Kool Aid and decide we need to act on it immediately. If that were the case, what would we do? Perhaps we’d try something that would cost about as much as an airplane , rather than cooking up a plan to destroy the economy.

Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) referred to FNC’s Glenn Beck as “He Who Shall Not Be Named,” which is the nickname used for Voldemort, the villain in the Harry Potter series. She was discussing the recent focus on the White House policy “czars.” In the past, Keith Olbermann has used the nickname to describe himself when discussing Bill O’Reilly . Reported by Priscilla – October 28, 2009 – Fox Opinion News is still maintaining their bogus contention that they are “fair and balanced.” Monday, Gretchen Carlson did an interview, with Christopher Hitchens and Pastor Douglas Wilson (who collaborated with Hitchens on a documentary that questions religion), that she felt was “fair and balanced.” But while she tried just so hard – she really, really did – the whole “fair and balanced” meme fell short when Carlson came out with a Christian right wing talking point which provided us with a glimpse of her Freudian slip!

Fox News won every major ratings category in October, especially with its dominant prime time line-up. In total day, FNC averaged 1.23M total viewers and 337k in the demo. In prime time, the averages are 2.59M and 692k, respectively, with no one else coming close. The Huffington Post notes that the network had the top 11 programs in the A25-54 demo and the top 13 programs in total viewers.

Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera are two on-air personalities at Fox News that I can tolerate. I have found them to be “fair and balanced” in every sense of the word. Shep did something no one else at Fox News Channel has to guts to do, well, maybe Bill O’Reilly on occasion when he gets cornered. He apologized for a story not being fair and balanced.
