Mark Tapscott’s article entitled “New York race exposes the big tent GOP myth Updated!” at the Washington Examiner gives me the impression that this is a nationwide phenomenon. The democrat-lite GOP leadership here in Illinois should take it as an instructive lesson about our own February primary. Here in Illinois the GOP has ALSO established a cozy little bipartisan combine. Here are some excerpts from that article which should give the Illinois GOP establishment whiplash with a serious reality check.

Sometimes I participate on this blog just for the fun of the debate, but sometimes I want to believe that all this analysis could actually influence something. When I feel like that (or just want some fresh voices to debate), I take the ideas that I’ve developed here and bring them to another community where I think they could get a fair hearing. For those of you with similar interests, I have some thoughts on three blogging communities: The Great Orange Satan: Like it or not, Daily Kos is the biggest political discussion site around.

My column today:The center of the American political universe shifted to Watertown, N.Y., and the rest of the northernmost corner of New York state as its residents elect a new congressman on Tuesday.Watertown has not had a Democratic congressman since 1871, and parts of the district have not had a Democratic representative since 1851.That may change on Tuesday because of Sarah Palin.Gov.

Matt Taibi’s Latest big Rolling Stone article came out last week to no fanfare. RS has stopped simulpublishing to the web and print edition to sell hard copies. That may or may not be working. I can’t say. But it’s killing Taibbi’s viral-ability on the internet.
Anyway. I just found the article, but only by wondering if it was up yet, then going there, and finding it. Shame because it’s really important.

In the face of the corruption and Corporatism we now see OUR government drowning in….and the fact that that corruption and Corporatism is in the process of drowning the planet, it has become obvious that The People need to take our government back from those who have hijacked it to further enrich themselves.
To do that we will need a Populist Uprising…of some sort.
We all saw this summer what a Populist Right has to offer….fighting the fascist communists Hitlers and demanding birth pedigrees that are in the public record already.

When my daughter was born, my then-3-year-old son clearly felt neglected, as first children always do in such situations. And as always happens, my son started acting up in a play for attention. In his case, he regressed on his potty training, crapping his pants. In a bid for attention, that certainly worked. Enter Joe Lieberman, and his successful bid for attention yesterday, promising to screw Democrats for the umpteenth time by joining Republicans in a filibuster of the Democratic health care plan.

Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) Daily Kos I am working hard on EPW to make the bill as strong as possible—I want the Clean Air Act to regulate coal emissions, I want to make sure we get funding for mass transit (New York uses 1/3 of all mass transit in America), we need green taxis and green jobs funding, and it’s important that agriculture has a place in the offsets market. I plan to support the bill assuming it’s a progressive approach to lowering carbon emissions and creating jobs through the new green economy.

Once again, the party bosses are trying to stop a conservative from going to Congress. In the November 3rd special election in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, there is a tight three-way race to succeed Congressman John McHugh, who resigned to become Secretary of the Army in the Obama Administration.
