Ever since this summer the residence of the College Terrace neighborhood of Palo Alto, California has been rubbing elbows with true social networking royalty. Public records confirm that Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim live in this modest area neighboring Stanford University. But according to a Gawker tipster, now Zuckerberg and Karim live side by side on the same street. Zuckerberg has had to have angered some neighbors in order for them to be ratting out his address.

One of Disney’s main men, Robert Iger is losing patience with Hollywood and is drawing the line in a move very reminiscent of previous Disney executive Jeffery Katzenberg’s in 1991. Like Katzenberg did with a memo to bigwigs in the movie industry, Iger is now telling Hollywood he’s seen enough big-budget spending and that smarter spending is well overdue.

(And “awe.” And “some.”)(…YOU GUYS.)(eeee!)So, anyone want to know what’s going on with the HP match? I thought so. My new friend Candice at DCHQ broke it down for me earlier today, as follows:On Wednesday or Thursday of this week, HP will allocate a proportionate share of the funds to the participating giving pages. In our case, that’s around 43% (more, really, but let’s leave the decimals out of it for now). These funds will appear as part of the Bet Red total impact, but will not actually fund projects.

What a wonderful world that open and closed platforms have created on the World Wide Web. I can have an untold number of features and applications inserted into my Web browser without having to lift much more than a finger to access them. I can take my favorite Web platforms and expand their usefulness by linking them to other Web-based services. I can even download a variant of my Web browser of choice that bridges the best of two worlds under one new roof: new innovations mixed with standard familiarity.

Sarah Palin has lashed out against Levi Johnston for his digs against her, calling him “mean-spirited” as well as “desperate” because he’s appearing in Playgirl. “We are appalled at the inflammatory statements,” Palin said yesterday through her spokeswoman. She said Levi’s comments on CBS yesterday that she calls her son with Down Syndrome “retarded” were “mean-spirited, malicious and untrue.” Trig “is our ‘blessed little angel’ and is lovingly called that every day,” she added.

Wired editor Chris Anderson will not sit idly by while Gawker equates him with Vanity Fair ’s Graydon Carter . With budget cuts and layoffs hitting most titles in the Condé Nast universe, Gawker has reported that both Carter and Anderson — two of the publishing giant’s marquee names — were too busy helping themselves to be present in the office on the days the guillotine fell.

via ‘Paranormal’ Now the Most Profitable Film Ever | The Wrap “Blair Witch’s” $248.6 million worldwide haul a decade ago – juxtaposed against its $60,000 production costs – represented an almost unthinkable 414,233 percent return on investment. Good roundup of photos of dogs wearing costumes . And a few more links: 1. Sean Salisbury is suing Deadspin for defamation. 2. T-Mobile now has a $79.99 unlimited plan with no annual contract. I can’t believe that’s considered a good deal. I’m never going to get a smartphone at this rate. 3. Gawker was tricked into running ads that hid malware. The emails sent by the trickster were quite sophisticated. (I believe this happened to the New York Times quite recently as well.) *Previously: Bumbledog .

John Cook at Gawker got hold of Jamie Dimon’s high school yearbook. So here are a couple of pics. Over at Gawker, they are making fun of him for being a bad dresser but somehow don’t say a word about his hair. Notice the Shakespeare quote in the second picture: “This above all: to thine own self be true.” Check out the whole thing >> Join the conversation about this story »

Hip Hop clothing designer Marc Ecko’s financial woes have caught up with him and it appears the designer has been forced to sell his company to pay off creditors. Ecko was forced to sell off a controlling stake in Ecko, middle America’s most familiar hip-pop fashion line in order to raise cash to pay off creditors. It’ll help the feeble brand hobble on, but it won’t be his. ( Gawker ) Related Posts: No Related Posts

newVideoPlayer(“/gawker_thehillsouttahere.flv”, 500, 375,”"); Getting sober is nothing to joke about, but it is the cause for some very, very serious reality television moments. Just ask Holly Montag , who refutes accusations that she is not a drunk with slurry, drink-in-hand dances. We have a feeling that if this secondary character from this Malibu-based show—where people talk about a party, go to a party, and then talk about what happened at a party—actually went to rehab it would sound something like this: Hi, everyone.

Gawker posts a bullet-point version of a 2,000-word piece: “the full story has generated 480,000 pageviews and 189 comments. But the CliffsNotes version has generated another 39,193 pageviews and 83 comments on its own … there’s real value in taking the longer pieces we journalists love to write — and defend — and creating parallel versions that less dedicated readers can more easily take in.”

Glenn Beck is on the record as saying that he doesn’t belong to any political party, but it’s fair to say that he really, really does not belong to the Democratic Party. Since Obama has taken office, Beck has called him a racist socialist, compared him to Hitler , and successfully called for the heads of some of his “czars.” So how is it that he wound up with a PR rep whose résumé includes successful representation for a number of Democratic politicians, including “a key role in electing Hillary Rodham Clinton to the U.S.
