No one is working harder on an “iPhone 3GS killer” than Apple. It’s in response to Jim Dalrymple, talking about the next version of the iPhone … The next version of the iPhone is already well underway and it will have cooler features than the existing models.

A good night’s sleep and a pain-free morning equals a good day. We are certain now what cures the pain, an anti-inflammatory cortical steroid. Now we need to figure out what’s causing the pain, so we’ve added an antibiotic to my daily, increasing pill intake. I’ve never hoped I had a bacterial infection before, but I am now. If the inflammation causing the pain isn’t an infection, that means it could come back. I will live in fear of that event for some time,  like the victim of a violent crime.

This year the health care debate has introduced tea parties, town halls and tele-town halls into the political lexicon. But today on Capitol Hill, House Democrats are putting on a no-frills rally for their freshly minted plan to overhaul the health care system. An audience of progressives will be on hand and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “cordially invited” scores of lobbyists — in an email Wednesday — to the event, which will be held on the West Front of the Capitol Building at 10:30 this morning. The bill includes a federally run insurance plan in which the government would negotiate insurance rates with doctors and hospitals instead of setting them.

WASHINGTON (AP) – An early progress report on President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan overstates by thousands the number of jobs created or saved through the stimulus program, a mistake that White House officials promise will be corrected in future reports. The government’s first accounting of jobs tied to the $787 billion stimulus program claimed more than 30,000 positions paid for with recovery money. But that figure is overstated by least 5,000 jobs, according to an Associated Press review of a sample of stimulus contracts.

Try this: “H-Y-P-O-C-O-N-G-R-E-S-S.” The hypocongress consists of those Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who have risen up on their hind legs in recent weeks to snarl and howl at any mention of a government role in meeting America’s health care needs. “Socialism,” they bark — we won’t allow Barack Obama and the liberals to create a Washington-run, big-government intrusion into the hallowed private market.

Using my own fp multi-precision engine, fp Plugin for REALbasic adds two new data types, BigInteger and BigFloat. Except for available memory, there is no limitation on the size of a BigInteger. BigFloat is a multi–precision floating point number. You can set both the internal precision and the decimal output precision for BigFloat, with no limitation except for available memory. fp Plugin itself allows you to construct programs which can handle the two new data types much like doubles and integers are handled.

Amid rising competition between Google’s Android mobile operating software and the iPhone, Google this morning is sending another shot Apple’s way. It’s debuting a free beta version of a new navigation service, a la TomTom’s or Garmin’s popular devices, that offers turn-by-turn, real-time navigation with Google Maps–but only on devices using its new Android 2.0 software. In particular, that’s likely to be Verizon’s much-anticipated new Droid phone that was introduced this morning .
