Instead of the strange commercials us American’s get, Canada gets an ad for their Palm Pre that is basically a knockoff of the American iPhone ads.  The Canadian carrier Bell put out the above ad to advertise the Palm Pre.  It looks exactly like the iPhone ads: blank white background, and two hands demonstrating the features.  Very original, Bell.  Very original.  If you haven’t seen an iPhone ad, you can check one out and compare after the break.

Readers, don’t act like you’re appalled that this mod consists entirely of an old iPod shuffle shoved into the battery compartment of a Wiimote game controller. If anything, you should be amused that this mod consists entirely of an old iPod shuffle KIRF shoved into the battery compartment of a Wiimote game controller. See for yourself after the break. Friday, August 21st, 2009 by Steven 0 Add a Comment Well, that was fast. Just one week after hitting the scene, Qik for iPhone 3GS has been updated to move that nasty “WiFi only” restriction, meaning you can now stream your videos to the internet over a 3G network. We just tried it ourselves and, sure enough, it works like a charm. After you’ve read through all that FCC literature, hit up the read link and download the (thankfully still free) app — just be careful how much fun you have with it this weekend.

Let’s see how AT&T’s network handles this one.

Hannspree’s efforts in the netbook market are finally coming to the US with today’s launch of the 10-inch HannsNote , and frankly, we’re still pining for something a little less vanilla from the company. Sure, it’s the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and assorted specs we’ve come to know and sort of like, but this is the company known for devising some of the most ridiculous TVs we’ve ever seen, including a whole series of plush animals with monitors in their bellies.

Filed under: Apple Corporate , iPhone , App Store Along with Apple’s and AT&T’s response, Google has also responded to the FCC’s inquiry on the Google Voice rejection . Unfortunately, the contact between Apple and Google on the rejection has been removed from the letter, which will not clear up everything just yet. There’s no apparent reason why these details have been kept confidential. Anyway, Google’s letter states first the features of their Google Voice app, mainly the standard features of Google Voice on other smartphones.

Apple has been criticized over their stringent but inconsistent approval process for apps that will be featured in their App Store , but it seems that things are turning for the better. Word is that Apple is now reconsidering their stand on some rejected apps, and has started contacting several developers already asking them to resubmit their works sans any changes for an “ expedited review .” On a probably similar note, the developer of the officially licensed C64 emulator for the iPhone
