We came and we saw… but there’s not much to say. It’s exactly the same save for that new coating, bigger screen (which does help), and tiny little camera around back. Video quality looked decent, but you really can’t tell on the small screen. If you’ve ever held a nano — this is the same experience. Want to really know it’s like? Hit the gallery! It’s an honest confession that the drop in the prices of the existing iPod Touch models was not anticipated by us but yes, the pressure because of the competition from similar gadgets is what probably brought about this change- and this is what we could sense since a long time. No concrete change has been made to the existing line of Touch iPods but yes the prices have been slashed. The new models use the same CPU as the iPhone 3GS.

Apple announced new iPod Touch , software and iTunes features at their Rock and Roll show in San Francisco today. Engadget , Gizmodo , C/Net , CrunchGear and others are covering it live. He says they have 73.8 percent of the market, “with Microsoft pulling up the rear with 1.1 percent.” New software, Among the announcements: The iPod Shuffle will come in more colors.

Wow, as if losing a bazillion songs is not tragic enough, Apple has decided to double the highest capacity iPod Touch to a whopping 64GB. It’s a new iPod Touch model, too, ehem, sporting the same look but with a new CPU (same as in the iPhone 3G S ). There’s no camera and the unusually priced new iPod Touches puts the 32GB only $100 more than the 8GB. There’s no sign of the 16GB. Really strange, because the old iPod Touch model is much cheaper with slight disadvantage in the CPU, but not a bigie.

Apple just announced that they are building an FM Radio into the new, impossibly hot Apple Nano (with built-in video.) Not only that, but the implementation is extremely cool (thanks to Engadget for the photo.) The interface is stellar, and it comes with the one feature that would make radio cool again – live pausing . So, despite some pundits’ assertions to the contrary, Apple has just invited broadcast radio into what will be the killer holiday gift of 2009. The Infinite Dial just got a little more distribution…

Here’s the moment where you pretend that a breakthrough in a given industry would just revolutionize the way you do work, yet you know — deep down in your heart — that you’d never take advantage. Okay, so maybe you would, but your friend wouldn’t. At any rate, a gaggle of boffins at Stanford have set out to “reinvent digital photography” with the advent of the open-source digital camera. Filed under: Misc Step aside O2 and Vodafone, there’s a new sheriff in town. At least there will be if the announced 50:50 merger between T-Mobile UK and Orange can be signed into existence by November as planned. The new venture would give France Telecom and Deutsch Telekom units a 37% share of the UK mobile marketplace leaving O2 with 27% and the once mighty Vodafone with 25%. Let’s hope that the corporate cultures mix better than orange and magenta .

The lucky kids at the OLPC Learning Club DC got paid a visit by a man sporting a beefed up XO 1.5 laptop recently and was kind enough to put on a little show for the group. Featuring a VIA C7-M 1GHz variable speed processor, the update to the classic XO machine promises full screen video playback, faster eToys and scratch animation, more storage for a larger offline library, better image capture and remixing, and an all-around better Java experience.
