Web Faceoff: Twitter vs. Facebook . Mashable keeps putting up these surveys, and mostly I find them pointless. Every platform/application/soccer team has its fans, and trying to separate them is rather futile. And my immediate reaction to this one was that it was even more pointless than usual. After all, Facebook and Twitter are two different animals, right? Facebook is a social networking platform — it’s social and it allows networking .

Here’s a fan concept that even Apple will not top. It presents an Apple iPhone doing multitasking with the help of Coverflow at the bottom of the icons. The Coverflow shows all tasks that currently run on your iPhone. All running apps have a miniature representation in a cover flow at the bottom of the screen. To make room for this, each home screen page will have one less row of icons and the dock is removed completely. But since the running apps often will equal your favourites, they will still be easily accessible.

This is yet another one of the spookiest gizmos ever: ‘If you’re in the market for a new desk fan, tomorrow brings a new option: Dyson’s bladeless Air Multiplier. It’s “the most opulent, most eye-catching and”—at $300—“most ludicrously overpriced gadget the company has released yet,” Mark Wilson writes. “And I sort of love it.” The device sucks in air through its base, then pushes it back out something that looks like “a hula hoop on a stick.” ‘“It’s a mind-bending sensation to say the least,” Wilson writes for Gizmodo on sticking his hand into the loop and feeling the breeze.

The Odyssey, a super-rugged laptop case that is watertight, dust- and impact-resistant and even features a pressure release valve, sounds a good idea. The foam liner is pluckable so that it can be shaped to hold any gadget or gizmo that warrants the hefty cost of the bag; making the heft of the bag itself, somehow appropriate. With a dry-weight of 11-lbs, the retractable handle and wheels are necessary inclusions on the Odyssey.

The eBook is a digital copy of the physical book, same concept as in 1971 when Project Gutenberg was founded. Much has changed since 1971 including the Web where we may find many eBooks in formats included text, PDF, HTML, XML, ePub, Kindle, Open eBook, and more. PDF is great layout for print, but not as useful on the screen. Some modern eBooks contain hyperlinks, but otherwise remain the same as the original concept. The eBook is trying hard to be like print. Current eBook readers are lost in the past.

This has to be one of the coolest boats on the water. The Python is the fastest, highest-performing amphibious vehicle ever built. The Python jets along at 60 mph on water, and on land, goes from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds. Apparently the Python is actually available to purchase . Source: Gizmodo

What you see above may look quite large, but it’s actually just a PMP – the Lissie Q10 – with a 3-inch display. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be a touchscreen display, instead you’ll control whatever is on the screen with the dial on the bottom right. The battery life is expected to last 20 hours of audio / 8 hours of video. This PMP probably won’t be hitting America, so don’t wait for it unless you’re somewhere in Asia. [ Gizmodo ]

by admin on October 12, 2009 (Update #2 with T-Mobile plans) T-Mobile may let Sidekick owners affected by the permanent data loss drop their contracts and move to other phones, one subscriber says today. At least one customer reports to Gizmodo that he has been offered an early exit from his contract as well as having the option of buying a T-Mobile G1 for the same $130 price new or eligible customers would pay. BlackBerries and other smartphone-class devices have also been made options….
