Image above is slightly outdated as South Korea, Japan, and France in particular now average 10-35Mpbs more Sadly, the US sinks further and further out of relevance when the topic of global broadband speeds are brought up. Are average speeds pail in comparison to many other countries. Just a few numbers to get you all in a bunch: US Average Broadband Speeds: 4.8Mbps Japan widely offers speeds of 80+Mbps South Korea also is around the 70-80Mbps mark Even France slaughters us with speeds in the 40-50Mbps range Sure, you could argue that these nations have much less square mileage to cover, which, costs them less in rollout and upkeep costs.

mmhmmm. Leica’s got our number. That’s for sure. We love ourselves some retro rangefinders and it looks like the next two Leica digicams will follow that style. These pics came from two Flickr pages that were eventually pulled. If the specs listed turn out to be correct, a lot of shutterbugs are going to max out their credit cards on day one. We’ll probably find out more  on September 9 – that is if Apple doesn’t gobble up all our attention with its September 9th event .

We’re pretty happy to announce that Gizmodo Gallery is returning again after our successful run last year in New York , and this time it will be bigger and better. This year we’re renting out a street level space in the New York neighborhood of NoLita from September 23rd to the 27th, where we plan to showcase our favorite tech related items from the last year or so. Expect some of the same types of stuff as last year, but we have all sorts of new ideas for this year that we think will make this year’s gallery even more noteworthy.
