The crops that people like me think of as food (fruits and veggies) are not what the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg are talking about when they note the dramatic decline in farm income, down 38% this year, according to the USDA as reported in Huffington Post . The big drops in income are among dairy farmers, cattle and beef producers and the growers of commodity crops such as corn and soybeans. The organic farmer who sells shares of a CSA is not the farmer who is hurting, but they are a small percentage of the overall whole.

An unbelievably ironic situation could evolve over the Midwestern U.S. during the rest of this century. The states whose Senators are most adamant about derailing any meaningful action on climate change are most likely to experience the worst effects of that climate change. How will Colorado’s Senators vote when (if?) a climate change/energy bill comes to the Senate floor. To be clear, there is no such bill currently in the Senate today. Unfortunately, all we can conjecture about are generalities at this point.

Because many groupies, I mean Democrats, were mourning Ted Kennedy I held my counsel about him, but since an appropriate period of time has passed I will just say that Ted Kennedy was one of the most disgusting members of a family so corrupt and degenerate that even while infiltrating every level of government they can’t avoid prosecution after prosecution for their criminal ways. Let us start with how Ted Kennedy betrayed his brother John F. Kennedy’s memory.
