Great video from the Huffington Post During the election campaign I had the dubious honor of appearing on a talk radio show in which I was paired against some looney tune author of a scurrillous email that had made the rounds of the nutjobs. I didn’t know who the guy was when I agreed to go on the show, and I was amazed when a number of callers brought up this birth issue, which I had never heard about before. I remember I said that I wasn’t interested in paranoid fantasies and preferred to talk about actual issues.

So what do you do when someone posts a YouTube video saying you’re a crock? One way is to complain and get it wiped clean off the ‘inter-tubes’ A video called “Climate Crock of the Week” about head-in-the-sand global warming denier Anthony Watts was posted last week on YouTube by Peter Sinclair who has been running the “Climate Crock” series for quite sometime now. The video was making the blogosphere rounds, getting a lot of comments on YouTube and on a post I did over the weekend here on Huffington .

Five years ago, Arianna Huffington and former PR executive Ken Lerer founded Huffington Post to cover the intersection of politics, business and popular culture. I had lunch on Friday with Eric Hippeau , chief executive officer of the site and a partner at Softbank Capital in the U.S. Eric is returning to his journalistic roots; those of you in technology may recall that he ran Ziff-Davis while it was owned by the Ziff family in the early 90s. It was later sold to Softbank and then went public.

This was just posted on Huffington Post : Michael Vick is back in the NFL. Now all he needs is a team to play for. Vick, free after serving 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, was reinstated with conditions by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday. He could participate in regular-season games as early as October. Are there no standards? I hope they live to regret this. I hope animal lovers everywhere empty any stadium that Vick shows his ugly face in and turns the TV off when any of his games air.

The new August J. Crew catalog just landed in my mailbox and I was pleased to see that they shot most of it in gorgeous Monterey county, not too far from where I used to live in Santa Cruz. Looking at the lush rolling hills and quirky little cottages that form the backdrop to the catalog made me miss weekends drives up and down the California coast…but it also has me seriously craving a great big Harry Potter-size trunk full of J.

Three Republicans say “yes, Obama is a citizen” and one of them is Aaron Schock. In fairness, there might be a 2004 parallel with “Did George Bush cheat to win Ohio” question. I feel that there WERE problems in the Ohio vote but not nearly enough to account for the margin that President Bush won the state by. Anyway, the Democrats are introducing a bill about Hawaii that acknowledges Hawaii as being the birthplace of Barack Obama.
