For decades, Walter Cronkite was a towering figure in American life. Smith was a passenger in a car hit by a fast car on Sunday, August 16.The The Honda Accord car where Smith was seated in was cut into half by a Chevy Camaro. The driver and another passenger of the Honda Accord were sent to hospital. Smith was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The driver of the Chevy Camaro was Hugo Rosillo, 30. Rosillo tried to flee from the scene of the accident but he was captured.
