I quit going to big concerts a long time ago. I’m told you can’t openly do bong hits anymore, so what’s the point? But last week I went to a baseball game with my 11-year-old, and it featured a post-game show by the B-52s, one of my favorite bands back in the day. Young Miss Cracker loved the band, and later in the week, we were looking up some YouTubes of the B-52s when I ran across this from the Daily Show.

YouTube is for a quick fix: breaking news, someone getting kicked in the crotch, Usain Bolt replays, or the infamous Susan Boyle performance that broke earlier this year. It’s all fun, until you realize your covered in grime and need a shower.Hulu is the future, but it’s also here and now—ready for prime time. Cable and satellite companies: be scared. The days of premiums, over-charging and stuffed packages are coming to an end.

Some of the comments are priceless.

The letter, Cantel Medical says, “stated that she was resigning to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest during the national debate over healthcare reform.” McCaughey reportedly received about $30,000 a year in fees from the company.

Welcome to No Fact Zone’s weekly roundup of cultural references on The Colbert Report. From Darcy to Danger Mouse, String Theory to Shakespeare, we’ve got the keys to this week’s obscure, oddball, and occasionally obscene cultural shout-outs (hey!). Hey Zoners! Last shows before the break. I’m happy for Stephen and the staff, and sad for us viewers, but I’m also looking forward to all the fun stuff we’ve got planned at NFZ for the next few weeks. Be sure to stick around! I think, aside

Jon Stewart’s Daily Show guest last night was Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, who has made her reputation with arguments against universal health care range from slightly misleading to outright fiction.

Watching this will not make you proud to be a New Yorker. Former Lt Gov, inventor of the “death panel” nonsense and long time professional liar extraordinaire Betsy McCaughey tries to bamboozle the Jon Stewart and the Daily Show crowd. The results are not pretty. www.thedailyshow.com Be sure to catch part two as well.

Sensationalism seems to drive the twenty four-hour news cycle in the 21st century. From news radio to the morning paper there is always a story about what someone said that is so outlandish it does not even warrant print. Recently the allegation was made that one of the many health care reform options suggested would [...] Related posts: In Defense of Pluralism: How Glenn Beck is Killing Democracy It’s beginning to appear that civility is the casualty of culture wars.
