Animoto is turning into a cult favorite web app – upload a few pictures to the service, pick some music, add some text and get a really cool video slide show back. They made my annual “ can’t live without ” list last year based on their obsessive desire to perfect a single product. Many, many users agree. Last month they announced a new round of financing and turned cash flow positive. Users are flocking to their iPhone application that lets you create slide shows from events even before you get back to your computer.

It’s only been a few days, but it feels like weeks since Google announced Google Chrome OS and stirred up the blogosphere and the imagination of techies and Microsoft haters everywhere. The response, the analysis, and the debate has been constant ever since. Can it beat Windows? Can it even run Photoshop? Twitter has reportedly ramped up its legal team by hiring away a key Google lawyer to become its general counsel. The site has nabbed Alexander Macgillivray, the former Senior Product and Intellectual Property Counsel at Google, reports the NYTimes . Macgillivray’s resume is extensive: he steered the Google Books settlement with publishers, which if approved by a federal judge could pave the way for Google to scan and index millions of books.
