A number of Twitter users spoke out on Friday against a Comic-Con contest hosted by Electronic Arts that some say objectifies women. In short, the “Sin to Win” contest, designed to promote Dante’s Inferno, encourages attendees to take photos with the so-called “booth babes” and Tweet the photos to the @danteteam Twitter account with the hashtag #lust. read more

Ever wanted to Tweet in multiple languages? While you could (roughly) translate your Tweets by pasting them into Google Translate, new service Twinslator wants to make it even easier, allowing you to write a tweet, translate it into another language and (optionally) post both messages. Didn’t make it to this week’s Comic-Con, the world’s biggest comic conference happening in San Diego? No worries: YouTube’s got you covered with the launch of their official Comic-Con channel. The videos include recordings of the panel sessions and interviews with comic industry notables. Meanwhile, YouTube has aggregated all its Comic-Con content from various channels in today’s Comic-Con Spotlight: here you can watch Comic-Con coverage from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, Wired and Current.

As an illegally-obtained video of sports reporter Erin Andrews is being passed around the web, security firm Sophos has renewed warnings that scammers are posting fake clips in order to propagate malware. It adds that link sharing on Twitter and blogs is only worsening the situation. A video posted by Sophos earlier this week (below) warns of a fake CNN.com clone that prompts users to download a malicious file to view the video: links to the fake site are being propagated through forums like Yahoo Answers.

Yesterday, Bill Gates admitted that he has abandoned Facebook because he had too many friend requests and could not tell who he knew and who he didn’t. Now we have another well-known public figure who isn’t very fond of Facebook: Martha Stewart The master of home décor, in an interview with The Daily Beast , talks up Twitter and describes Facebook as “dippy.” Unlike Gates though, she extensively discusses why Twitter has a special place in her heart.
