The evening service was held at the Great Mausoleum at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California. A source said: “After sitting through Michael’s funeral service at the Great Mausoleum, with its magnificent stained-glass windows and replicas of Michelangelo’s artworks, she later told friends, ‘I felt a sense of peace there that I’ve never experienced before’.” The precise location of Jackson’s grave is not publicly known.

In never-before aired tapes, Michael Jackson declares his admiration for Adolf Hitler. Calling Hitler a genius, Jackson also says he could have got rid of Hitler’s evil, according to his one-time friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach: “Hitler was a genius orator. To make that many people turn and change and hate, he had to be a showman and he was.” The tapes of Jackson and Boteach in conversation will air in an NBC Dateline exclusive on Friday night.

Bill Clinton just doesn’t know when to hold his tongue. Shortly after his inauguration in 1993, the former president arranged to have monthly discussions with longtime friend and author Taylor Branch recorded for posterity, keeping the tapes in his sock drawer. Branch’s book, The Clinton Tapes , comes out next week and some tidbits, from Clinton comparing Al Gore to Mussolini and a drunk Boris Yeltsin sneaking out of the White House for pizza, have been making headlines.

I’m no Hollywood insider. Nikki Finke does not rely on me for her tips and I don’t ever expect to attend the Vanity Fair Oscar after party. Nevertheless, there’s one thing I do know about show business: personality goes a very long way in “this town.” And so a few of us press people recently found ourselves the subject of a 50 megaton charm offensive by the four stars of the new Fox sitcom, “Brothers” — C.C.H.
