The first thing someone, anyone, might think of writing about on a blog site would be the obvious recounting of the day one just had. This is trite and mind numbingly boring, make no bones about it, stupid. See there is no solution there. Personally, all day long subjects pass through my mind, I think of cute little one liners, toss around the idea and usually chalk it up to a pointless venture. After all, who reads this shit anyway? Nevertheless, the following are a few things that were considered and deemed unrealistic to complete one blog on their own: David T.

Glenn Beck, the right wing fringe commentator has not only embarrased himself by calling President Obama a racist–he has embarrased the Church and Mormons everywhere. In late July the firebrand exclaimed : This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy — over and over and over again — who has a deep seated hatred for white people or white culture, I don’t know what it is. I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people. I’m saying he has a problem, this guy is, I believe, a racist.

Re: “Police didn’t deserve suspension,” by James P. Graham, Saturday Letters. Graham remarks that no one was suspended for remarks about former President George W. Bush. Since President Barack Obama is black, and Bush is white, and the e-mails were racially motivated, this is probably true. Most e-mails circulated about Bush had to do with him being incompetent. If people can’t see the difference, that explains why racial tension still is a sore spot. Charles R.

It’s like that Phil Collins song, you can feel it coming in the air at every town hall. Just ask Arlen Specter, who faced a grievance mob today, complete with boos when Specter spoke of Obama’s Americanness . Town halls turned grievance fests with health care only the launching pad for people to act out. “IT IS TIME TO WATER THE TREE OF LIBERTY,” was printed across William Kostric’s sign today. It’s the same quote used in the video by a different man ( h/t Peter Daou ) only in a separate context.

(ChattahBox)—Last Week ex-Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, joined the disingenuous group of Republican “deathers” by making a false claim on her Facebook page, saying that the proposed health care reform bill under consideration in the House, contains “death panels” that would decide if her elderly parents and her baby with Down Syndrome would receive life-saving health care. Palin’s shameful fear mongering has now been soundly debunked by the Republican co-sponsor of a similar provision to mandate that Medicare pay for voluntary end-of-life counseling sessions.

Quote of the year from an American Prospect story on townhalls : Tune in to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, or Glenn Beck these days, and it’s like drinking anger and fear from a fire hose . A not very bright fire hose . We can’t stop the anger and fear because in these times anger and fear however mal-articulated are rational responses to the unholy mess left us by Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush. Mostly anyhow. (Some are clearly criminal and in need of a long cooling off period.) What we need is jiujitsu .

It’s important in this health care debate to call a duck a duck. Or in this case, a lie a lie. It’s just as important to trace the lies back and see who is really doing the lying and why. Great example today from Sen. Arlen Specter’s town hall. After the event was over, Fox News interviewed one of the Tea Baggers who has what we are told are “accurate” and “informed” concerns about health care reform. Here’s the video: While being interviewed, Tea Bagger Katy Abram states she doesn’t want America to turn into a socialist country like Russia.
