Rep. David Scott: Healthcare debate getting ‘very, very dangerous’ From The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room : The debate over healthcare reform is getting “very, very dangerous” when it reaches the point of swastikas being painted on lawmakers’ offices, Rep. What with both Rush Limbaugh and Nancy Pelosi irresponsibly tossing around the Nazi label, Cliff May provides a welcome reminder of what, and who, the fascists really are . Maybe something useful can come of this brouhaha: a chance to understand a little more about Nazism and other varieties of fascism, how they’ve threatened us in the past, and the form that threat has taken on in the present. Michael Ledeen, now the Freedom Scholar at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, spent many years studying fascism.

Dear friends, As you may know, right-wing talk show hosts have been bringing race-based fear mongering into the mainstream, but FOX’s Glenn Beck just took it to another level. On Tuesday, Beck said: This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people… this guy is, I believe, a racist. It’s part of a larger argument Beck has been making: that President Obama wants to serve the needs of Black communities at White people’s expense.

The Citizen Wells blog has presented many articles about the Obama camp thuggery that has occurred over the past one and a half years and how it resembles the Nazi Brownshirt tactics and totalitarian state of “1984.” The attacks on Larry Sinclair, myself and others for questioning the “messiah”, Obama, aka Hitler, aka Big Brother, were a clue we were entering a new age foretold by George Orwell. Orwell had just witnessed the rise of the totalitarian regime of Nazi Germany.

From Michael Rosin: > I had to run an errand at lunch and I listened to Rush Limbaugh go on and on about the Health Care bill, complaining that Democrats in Congress ought to read it. So should he. He went on and on about section 1233, giving the impression that it will be used to deny health care to the elderly and infirm. What crap. I just read section 1233. It specifies how living will, durable power of attorney, and medical care proxy counseling will be made available by the federal government.

Mort: Rush makes them do it – blithespirit.wordpress.com 08/12/2009 Last night the irrepressible Mort Kondracke further graced his Fox News panel slot with a blame-it-on-Limbaugh comment about denunciations of ObamaCare at townhall meetings. The host Bret Baier had reported a flood of email objections to Kondracke’s and Charles Krauthammer’s slamming of protestors’ behavior — acknowledging neither the indignation it represented nor its grassroots nature. « Dialogue on Immigration Reform in San Jose | Main | Curriculum on Refugee and Migration Issues for High Schools » Here is a guest post from a reader of ImmigrationProf, Julia Koehler, on immigration reform: I would like to share some thoughts about the news that Immigration Reform won’t be on this year’s agenda for the Obama administration – would be interested to know what you think. I have come to the conclusion that putting comprehensive immigration reform on the table now would be a bad thing; so the news that is has been pushed back is good news.
