America has just suffered the deadliest day of the war in Afghanistan in more than four years, but Obama doesn’t have time to worry about that. He’s focused on another war: the war against his political enemies. The assault on Rush Limbaugh was just for starters. Today’s victim: Fox News. Is the media finally starting to hold Obama somewhat accountable? It’s not enough that four-fifths of the news networks march in lock step to the Obama administration and have turned from being the watchdogs to Obama lapdogs.

In response to an emailed press release by a Congressman, a local journalist had this to say : I don’t believe one word you or other conservatives say. The Republican Party is now a mentally ill group of people who want nothing more than to destroy Obama’s first term no matter how much the country needs his policies. I despise your party’s activities and the hatred you spew on Fox and other sounding boards for the insurance companies. Please don’t you dare get him killed, which is the underlying goal of you right wing nuts.

As I unfurled the ever shrinking Reno Gazette-Journal this morning I had to smile. There it was in bold letters on both the A and B sections …. the public option is, indeed, alive and well. We’ve come a long way from the life support drama days of just a few weeks ago, and that is due in large part to the progressive Democrats across the nation that weren’t going to just bend over and take ‘whatever’. Senate Majority Leader, Reid, also deserves some credit here for listening to the voices of concerned Democrats … and I am referring to real Democrats, not the Blue Dogs and their pack.

There are some folks in our world who prefer to ignore science and cling to the droolings of drug-addled talk show hosts and Faux News. If you ask them, global warming is a myth and the planet is actually cooling. Not so says scientists. This decade — the one we are currently living in — will go down as the hottest in recorded history. So, why do people choose to believe the far-right, pro-big business bologna? Good question.
