As you no doubt know by now, earlier this month, 25-year old Sun Danyong, an employee of Foxconn — the company that manufactures the iPhone for Apple — was apparently driven to commit suicide as he was subjected “unbearable interrogation techniques” by his employer’s internal security group. Danyong was under investigation for losing a prototype device of a forthcoming iPhone. Image via .

A quick follow-up on my post about love, greed and innovation . In some discussions since, I’ve pointed to Apple as an example of how greed is trumped by love. It may seem surprising to think of a multi-billion dollar corporation, famed for its premium products and ruthless business practices, as being motivated by love, but there are a number of things that show this is true. First, there’s the Netbook category. Apple are not making one because they “don’t see a way to build a great product for … $399 [or] $499″, according to Tim Cook , Apple’s COO.

I haven’t run since high school. My family moved to New London (a little one-stoplight town in northern Ohio) just before I started 7th grade. To meet some friends, my mom suggested that I join the cross country team. For such a small town, the New London High School cross country team was very good – the year before I moved, the high school boys team won the state championships. The coach, Bob Knoll, was one of the most respected high school coaches in the state.

As some of you may recall, a couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about how I reached the decision to change paths . This post is my progress report. Something amazing happened to me last week but what makes it even more amazing is how it came to be. Initially I was hesitant to be so open about some parts of my past but figured that in order to fully understand where I am now, you have to understand where I have been in the past eight years. So I decided to go ahead and disclose everything.
