Congress has taken a historic step towards a clean energy economy by passing the American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454). 17th Ohio District Congressman Tim Ryan (D) voted in favor of the bill while 14th Ohio District Congressman Steve LaTourette (R) voted against it. Tho the major shift in our energy policy, coupled with the dire predictions of the scientific community regarding “global warming” demand we do more, this is definitely a step in the right direction.

He was especially enthralled by the Regal Constellation, the 800-room modernist jewel on Dixon Road, just east of the airport, which was crowned by a posh nightclub called the Magic Carpet Lounge. “I recall, quite clearly, driving with my father and looking up at these Jetson-type windows that you see at the top of the Constellation hotel, and imagining what was going on in there,” Mettler says.

Rep. Nita Lowey, Chair, House Appropriations Cmte A few weeks ago, the House Appropriations Committee recommended increasing Peace Corps funding to $450 million. Yesterday, the House voted to approve funding at that level. The same day, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to match Obama’s more modest $373.4M budget request for the agency.
