Resort developers, bankers, construction workers and luxury car dealers rushed for a piece of the action. In Deschutes, many high-end homes were built on speculation during better times but not sold. In Bend, local officials are dealing with what the bust left: once-pricey lots left vacant, overbuilt and unsold subdivisions, jobless construction workers.

Apple will tell you that iTunes 8.2.1 fixes bugs and, in particular, improves interoperability with iPhones and iPod Touches running iPhone 3.0 Software. But, it really it only has one ‘feature:’ It blocks the Palm Pre’s iTunes compatibility. KDE thinks there’s another way. But, just to get this out of the way, I’m now running iTunes 8.2.1 on my Windows PCs and Macs, including both a Tiger and a Leopard Mac OS X system. If there’s anything noteworthy about the new iTunes on any of these systems, I haven’t seen it yet.

Jackling House in happier days (1960) An article in a Silicon Valley newspaper misleadingly heralds an agreement between Steve Jobs and the town of Woodside that supposedly guarantees the preservation of Jackling House, a historic California home he owns in that town. It was originally built for copper baron Daniel Jackling, who, like Jobs, made a fortune in a new technology of his day, providing the copper for electric wiring.

Mr. Ron Reese has posted a letter that implies that Obama revealed he was the Antichrist in Ghana on July 11, 2009. Follow the article posted below and then go to www.fivedoves.com for other letters in reference to this same article. If there are still some Christians out there that doubt this fact, I recommend you look at the cumulative evidence that is being assembled in this site and others as www.fivedoves.com or www.prophesyinthenews.com or www.hallindsey.com and many others.  Jesus is coming for His church very soon and we must awake the church as to this fact.

Thinking about making a move to another company? Sure, the economy is in tatters and layoff announcement have become commonplace, but it’s always nice to know whether or not people at other companies are as miserable enjoying their jobs as much as you. Glassdoor , the salary and employer review site, sent us over reviews from a few anonymous employees at a number of big-name tech companies — some good, some bad — along with CEO approval ratings.

The conference call date for Apple’s latest quarterly numbers was finally announced this week as being at Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. PDT. The biggest question isn’t about profit or sales, however, but who will be doing the speaking: Could it be Steve Jobs? Jobs was last heard on an Apple conference call in October 2008. While no reason was given for his presence then, it could be argued that his participation was designed to assuage concerns about his health.

marco : I’ve never doubted the viability of running a serious business of writing iPhone apps before. For the first time, now, I am. App Review is problematic when the delays are longer than a few days. Since its inception, having submitted applications about 12 times, I’ve never seen a delay shorter than 6 days, with 7-8 being the most common duration. And now that rejections for very minor issues are common, nearly every app update gets rejected at least once and needs to wait in the queue again .
